Malaria

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by the plasmodium parasite infection that is transmitted through the bite of a malaria mosquito called Anopheles . Anopheles mosquito causes malaria is found in many areas with temperate climates , especially in Africa and the Indian subcontinent . Including in Indonesia .

Mosquito-borne parasite plasmodium is attacking red blood cells . Until now there are four types of plasmodium is capable of infecting humans is plasmodium vivax , plasmodium malariae , plasmodium ovale and plasmodium falciparum . Plasmodium falciparum is the most dangerous and can be life threatening .

Each year , approximately 1.2 million people worldwide die from malaria . Similarly, according to the latest data published in the British medical journal , The Lancet . The reported numbers are much higher than the WHO estimate that in 2010 655,000 .

Many thought the same malaria to dengue fever because the symptoms are similar and have both transmitted by mosquitoes . But keep in mind that they are different . Malaria is caused by the anopheles mosquito that carries the parasite plasmodium while dengue fever is caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito that carries Dengue visrus .

Symptoms of Malaria

Malaria symptoms similar to the symptoms of regular flu . Patients have fever , chills , muscle aches and headaches joints . Patients experiencing nausea , vomiting , cough and diarrhea . Typical symptoms of malaria is the cycle of chills , fever and sweating that occurs over and over again . In some cases , the cause of malaria parasites in the human body can survive for several months . Meanwhile , an infection caused by the parasite P. falciparum is usually more serious and life threatening. So when feeling these symptoms , doctors handlers early is highly recommended .
